Artist's Comments
I keep promising myself to focus only on homework and/or shirt designs...but when I got home late last night, all I wanted to do was paint. Figures! So here be the Kraken (+ much artistic license) piece I've wanted to do for about two weeks now. I've adored the Kraken a little bit since I first heard his Zeus conversation line ("Soon, youuuuu'll CRAACCKKK!" -destroys urchin quays-). Yes, feel free to mock me. Anyway, I was reminded of him a bit ago, and wanted to try advertising his softer side.
 He really just wanted to greet the friendly little fishing village, not horrify them. Er. Hopefully.I'm becoming increasingly suspicious of the fact that no matter what subject I'm drawing (person, creature, place), it always ends up feeling like the same strangely empty/tranquil yellowish landscape. Hmmmm. Many thanks to my lovely floor for helping me fix the scale. It still has many issues, but I'm supposed to stop apologizing for my art/existence and take pride in my work for once, so. -hushes- Enjoy! |

as for what you said about the calm yellow bg, maybe if you emphasized the gathering storm clouds the bg wouldn't seem as calm? (and did away with the yellows a bit and replaced them with red and purples or something?)
