Description

A Christmas present for my oldest sister, which is now several years overdue. Personal ramble to follow, so everyone glance up at the ceiling. It's unbearably cheesy, so feel free to skip and just look at the picture. :P

I know this one addresses the sleeping sort of dreams (if one is familiar with what a dreamcatcher is), but I was thinking of a completely different "dream" as I was working: the sort of dream that people like to link with hopes and aspirations. Probably didn't come through, though. But really, dreams are enormous. They're stubborn, powerful, and infectious. They erase apathy and make people believe in things they can't see. Dreams let individuals consider the sweat'n blood of hard work alongside abstract notions like faith and integrity. In other words, pretty neat stuff. But for the same reasons, they can be extraordinarily difficult to put up with. We're kinda small, after all. But maybe I wanted to say, "Yah, we're tiny in comparsion, but?"

It's not clear from the image, but this story ends well. This dude is going to catch a building-sized dream with a wooden hoop and some pretty string. And I hoped that maybe others can do the same. People take a glance at the big scary dream and get that bug-eyed look. "Won't come true. Risky. I'd rather stay home." But honestly, get some wood'n string and go for it. Take care of yourself, work hard, and take opportunities as they arise. Run as fast as you can in one direction, mowing through any open (and closed doors) you meet. Give people a reason to care about what you care about. Convince them. If you can, show them your conviction, and that funny little light that shows up in the eyes of those talking about what they love; remember that dreams are contagious. If you can't conquer your fear and insecurities, take 'em with you. Just because they're there doesn't mean it has to weigh you down. Cry a little, and make yourselves some cake. Don't fret about age or speed, but be responsible about who's relying on you and what you're stepping on or in. Otherwise, make like the dude in orange and just go.

And to my sister, who finds herself in the unlikely position of grappling with her first real dream at the tender age of 28, a mighty thumbs up and as much wood and twine I can find at the local hardware store. <3

(Also, I'll probably be improving this as I get crits; I kinda had no idea what was happening for a while there. Sorry Adj. ;_; )
